California Crop

The nature trails where I live have an affinity for the paths of utility poles. This morning I discovered fields of these like tall rows of corn. It must be our largest crop.

The towers arise majestically like some idol, each one strung together with wire like beads on a necklace. I'm surprised we don't have dances in their honor to increase the rain of electricity.

Like sentinels communicating over long distances, they pass current signals like smoke, only dimly aware of my passing beneath.
