Holiday Fun

The Golden Gate Express Special Exhibit at the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers not only had the kids interested but the adults too stood around in throngs! Minature replicas of San Francisco's most unique landmarks made completely of recycled materials were animated by silver trains streaking loops set in a botanical paradise. My favorite landmark was Ghiradelli Square made of bakelite light switch and electrical outlet plates. The Transamerica Building was made of keycaps!

Individual miniatures is one thing but a world of minatures is another. Reducing the scale of the world around you and re-presenting it in unexpected materials is a great way to both more deeply understand the world it re-creates and to re-vision the relationships between.
